A couple of weeks ago, I was hanging out with the Shibui yarn and fell in love with the Mineral colourway. The only problem was that I could not decide which yarn to knit with, Silk Cloud or Pebble. The solution? BOTH! Shibui has a great collection of patters under the Mix umbrella. It’s a neat concept – their colourways are consistent across the different yarn lines so that you can combine two different yarns of the same or different colourway for neat effects. We’ve got a free pattern for you today! Check out Sunburst, a bulky cotton blend hat using SMC Lumio Cotton from the My Mountain collection. This yarn comes in 10 soft shades perfect for summer. A quick knit, Sunburst is a great take along project and the finished hat is great for keeping your head snug on chilly nights. With some garter stitch and a focal cable, this hat has a bit of slouch for a relaxed fit. And just look what happens when the reflective thread in the yarn catches the light! You can download the pattern PDF here or pick one up at the store! Happy knitting!
Festival is almost over, but you can keep your Voyageur spirit going with this fun hat!! Using less than 1 skein of the new Rowan Pure Wool Worsted this hat knits up quick. And with 50 colours to choose from, there is a colour for everyone! You can download the pattern here or pick up a copy at the shop! This hat would also work great in any of our worsted weight yarns such as Cascade 220, Malabrigo Rios, Sweet Georgia Trinity Worsted and More! Here you can see it in action at a Voyageur pancake breakfast with its fantastic tassel. My son said that it was the best Voyageur hat there because his mom knit it and real Voyageurs probably had their moms knit their toques too!
