WIP Wednesday – Odessa’s mosaic shawl

Right now I’m working on one of my most favourite projects yet. The Columbina shawl by Ambah O’Brein in Manos Marina.

I came across this pattern while looking for something else and I was smitten. The mosaic colourwork is beautiful and the shawl is an easy to wear shape. Immediately I started hunting around the store for the perfect yarn and settled on Marina. It’s a lace weight single with a ton of yards per skein in some beautiful hand dyed colourways. I went with Suede and Nostalgia, a pairing with a delicate and subtle contrast. The pattern calls for a fingering weight yarn and I chose a lace weight so I went down a needle size to get a tidy yet lightweight fabric. I’m also knitting the large size to make up for my smaller gauge. I’m over half done the colourwork and am finding mosaic knitting so fun! Unlike traditional colourwork you’re only knitting with one colour per row and simply slipping stitches from the row below. I can’t wait to finish it and wear it!
